Mamma Smith’s Chocolate Sheet Cake

2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp salt

Mix: & set aside.

Combine: 

1 stick oleo (butter)

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup water

3 Tbs. Cocoa

Bring to a boil & pour over dry mixture & mix. 

Then add:

 2 eggs

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 tsp. Soda

1 tsp. Vanilla

Mix and bake in greased sheet pan at 350 for 20 min. 

Icing for Sheet Cake:

1 stick oleo

3 Tbs. Cocoa

1/2 cup milk

Melt over low heat. 

Add: 

1 box powdered sugar

1 tsp. Vanilla

1/2 cup pecans.

Pour over cake while hot. 

Mamma Smith’s Baked Chicken with Popcorn

(serves 18)


2 cups bread crumbs

1/2 cup diced celery

1/4 onion

1/2 cups raw pop corn

1 tsp. Salt

1 tsp. Sugar

2 cups broth



Mix together & stuff chicken. Bake at 350 for 5 hours or until popcorn blows ass off chicken. (And those were her words, not mine LOL!)
